The Expat Study

An analysis of living and working in Denmark as an expat.

The Expat Study combines data about 1,954 expatriates who live and work in Denmark with registry data from Statistics Denmark. The 2020 Expat Study is the fifth such study conducted by Oxford Research, following on from those in 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2014.

The study examines how expats perceive living and working in Denmark in 2020. This allows stakeholders to assess how the attraction and retention of expats has progressed since the previous study in 2014. It also provides important background knowledge about potential areas for improvement regarding the attraction and retention of expats.

The Expat Study 2020 is conducted by Oxford Research and financed by a group of sponsors. In alphabetical order, these are:

  • Copenhagen Capacity
  • Confederation of Danish Industry (Dansk Industri)
  • The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI)
  • The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne)
  • The Danish Society of Engineers (IDA)
